The Bernese Mountain Dog is one of 4 breeds that originated from the Swiss Alps and are distinguished by their long tri-colored coat. The accepted colors are black, white and rust. Their weight can vary with females in the 60-110 lb. range and males being between 80 and 120 lbs. When it comes to temperament, this breed is one of the best you can get. Regardless of what their size may suggest, they are not aggressive dogs by nature and are good-natured towards not only people they know but strangers as well. They are excellent with children as they are very affectionate animals and overall are one of the nicest family dogs you can have.
